1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing and using MapBook ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the above, please do not use this service.

MapBook is intended for use by fire departments and emergency services personnel for professional emergency response purposes.

2. Description of Service

MapBook is a digital emergency response application that provides:

  • Digital mapping capabilities for emergency response
  • Hydrant location and management tools
  • Occupancy information and building data
  • Data synchronization and offline access
  • Multi-user collaboration features

3. User Accounts and Registration

3.1 Account Creation

You must create an account to use MapBook. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

3.2 Authorized Use

MapBook accounts must be registered by authorized fire department personnel or emergency services staff. Unauthorized access or impersonation is strictly prohibited.

3.3 Account Security

  • You must choose a secure password and keep it confidential
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
  • You are responsible for all activities under your account
  • Sharing credentials with unauthorized personnel is prohibited

4. Acceptable Use

4.1 Permitted Uses

  • Emergency response planning and operations
  • Fire department training and education
  • Inter-departmental coordination and data sharing
  • Maintenance of public safety infrastructure data

4.2 Prohibited Uses

You agree NOT to use the Service:

  • For any unlawful purpose or in violation of any local, state, or federal law
  • To transmit harmful, threatening, abusive, or defamatory material
  • To violate the intellectual property rights of others
  • To attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or systems
  • To interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
  • For commercial purposes unrelated to emergency services

5. Data and Content

5.1 User Content

You retain ownership of data you input into MapBook. You grant us a license to use, store, and process this data solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

5.2 Data Accuracy

You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of emergency response data. Inaccurate data could impact emergency response effectiveness and public safety.

5.3 Data Backup

While we maintain regular backups, you are responsible for maintaining your own backup copies of critical data. We recommend regular data exports for important information.

6. Service Availability

While we strive to maintain high availability, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to the Service. The Service may be unavailable due to:

  • Scheduled maintenance and updates
  • Technical difficulties or system failures
  • Circumstances beyond our reasonable control

Fire departments should maintain backup emergency response procedures that do not rely solely on digital systems.

7. Payment and Billing

Pricing and billing terms will be provided separately and may vary by department size and usage requirements. Payment terms include:

  • Fees are billed in advance for the selected service period
  • Late payments may result in service suspension
  • Refunds are subject to our refund policy
  • Pricing may be updated with appropriate notice

8. Intellectual Property

The MapBook application, including its design, features, and underlying technology, is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the software
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
  • Create derivative works based on the Service
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices

9. Limitation of Liability

IMPORTANT: MapBook is a tool to assist emergency response operations but should not be the sole source of critical information during emergency situations.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MapBook shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Loss of data, revenue, or business opportunities
  • Service interruptions or technical failures
  • Decisions made based on information provided by the Service

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold MapBook harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, violation of these terms, or infringement of any rights of another party.

11. Termination

11.1 Termination by You

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting our support team. Upon termination, you will lose access to the Service and your data.

11.2 Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these terms, non-payment, or other reasons that may compromise the security or integrity of the Service.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will provide notice of significant changes through the Service or via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which MapBook operates, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Always maintain traditional backup procedures and verify critical information through multiple sources when possible. In case of system failure or data discrepancies during emergency operations, follow established department protocols and prioritize life safety above all else.
